UK cruise company CMV offers an apprenticeship scheme and gives all staff the chance to take one cruise every year

CMV is the UK’s leading independent, privately owned cruise line, with a close-knit family feel. The strong team ethos has been at the forefront of our success over the past 10 years, during which time our ocean fleet has grown from two ships to six and annual capacity risen to over 100,000 passengers. Part of the CMV family is the

coaching arm, Independent Coach Travel, a preferred wholesaler for selling groups to Disneyland Paris. The team make regular visits to maintain their proficient knowledge and have enjoyed an excellent

TOUCH BASE

partnership with Disney since 1994.

Smile Group Travel is a new division of the CMV family and is an innovative brand specialising in tailor-made sports tours for schools. The team has expert knowledge in both sports and travel, and this year staff have accompanied groups to a range of locations including South Africa, Australia and Barbados. All companies are based

at our Essex head office, which offers contemporary accommodation and an excellent working environment. CMV employs more than 130

staff at head office and over 3,000 staff on board our ships. The unique educational

and staff training programme means every member of staff has the opportunity to experience a cruise every year with CMV. This ensures the team are experts on our product and able to reassure guests about every aspect of their cruise. We have enjoyed a successful apprenticeship intake for the third year running and are committed to developing talent. A ship visit programme for students studying travel, tourism and hospitality offers the opportunity to meet crew members and find out about life on board, travelling the world. This is an exciting time to join

CMV and 2020 will see further expansion as the company enters its 11th year.

case study

Gemma Bassy, customer services manager

“I have worked with Cruise & Maritime Voyages for almost

14 years. I started my career at CMV when I was just 19 as an administrator in customer services and now manage a team of 18 staff. The customer services department has taken on numerous apprentices over the years as part of the cruise line’s continued growth and fleet expansion and I have helped to recruit the best new customer service talent. I enjoy developing new employees to realise their potential. I also provide the vital link between the head office shoreside operations and liaising with the staff on board CMV’s ships on departure days.”
