ABTA

ABTA is the UK’s largest travel trade association and has more than 4,300 travel brands in membership, providing a wide range of leisure and business travel services, with a combined annual UK turnover of £39 billion. ABTA has been a

trusted travel brand for over 65 years. Our purpose is to help our members to grow their businesses successfully and sustainably, and to help their customers travel

with confidence. Properly trained and motivated staff who can see the possibility of good career progression are an incredibly important part of our members’ businesses. The government recently announced a Tourism Sector Deal which, together with other initiatives, is set to see an increase in government investment in skills and training across the tourism sector. ABTA will be working closely with leading organisations to help develop the Sector Deal and maximise its positive impact

on skills and development within the sector.

Education hub

ABTA has a dedicated Education Hub on our website where you can link to all the universities and colleges which have joined as ABTA Partners. Our Education Partners benefit from an annual lecture given by an ABTA expert of their choice and they can attend ABTA regional meetings and events, to build networks and personal connections with ABTA members. We also have a lot of useful

information and reports on abta.com which students can and do use in their course work; examples include our annual Travel Trends and Holiday Habits reports. Apprenticeships are

Apprentices have to reach an industry-recognised level of professionalism to qualify, which includes an assessment and a professional discussion. Running a successful travel business requires a wide range of skills and this means that the industry offers a number of different career opportunities. Travel is an extremely dynamic industry to work in, with staff
