The Springboard effect

Employers in hospitality welcome young people from all walks of life. Into Work programmes run by the Springboard Charity help ease the way…

Andrew, the Springboard iWish programme Following his redundancy, Andrew felt low and unsure as to how to find employment. He had worked for 15 years, but found himself lacking the knowledge and ability to find a new job. He says: “From the IWiSH

programme, I gained more knowledge about the industry and updated my qualifications. I learned interview techniques and how to fill out a job application. This gave me the confidence to go for interviews, and I secured a job because of this new-found confidence.” He is now employed with Harvester as a kitchen assistant in Perth.

Bradley, Springboard Hospitality Futures 2016 programme Bradley left school with no qualifications and poor confidence and could not find a permanent job to begin his career. He signed up to Hospitality Futures and found himself inspired and motivated. The programme provided essential accredited qualifications and vital work experience, securing Bradley three job offers from London hotels. He now works at Premier Inn Euston, as a member of the ground-floor team, and has aspirations of working his way up to a senior role at Premier Inn. He says: “Since getting involved

with Springboard, I got a job at Premier Inn and I’ve gained confidence through workshops, team building and one-to-one support.”
