The Final Assessment At the end of third year you will sit your Final Assessment. Separate examinations, each two hours in length, are set for Higher and Ordinary Level. The layout may vary from year to year. You may be asked to write for various purposes, for example to show your appreciation and understanding of your studied texts; to show your knowledge of appropriate vocabulary for stories, plays, film and poems; to write in response to a variety of texts which you are seeing for the first time.
Final Assessment Top Tip
Use the texts and skills from your genre chapters (Short Story, Poetry, Drama, Novel, Film) to help in preparing for your final examination. Read the cloze test at the beginning of each genre chapter to re- vise the skills you have learned from your genre chapters.
