of treatment respectively. Furthermore, the SiAd complex allowed for


a significant increase in hair thickness. This is consistent with the literature that states that hair thickness is dependent of the number of HFDPC,16 and that the SiAd complex stimulates HFDPC proliferation. Additionally, hair loss was also dramatically


reduced with hair more resistant to traditional combing (-16% and -48% hair loss after 42 and 84 days of treatment respectively) and gentle pulls (-31% and -56% hair loss after 42 and 84 days of treatment respectively). Taken together, these data suggest that the


SiAd complex is capable of stimulating hair growth while reducing hair loss thus leading to an increased hair density.


Conclusion The evolving paradigm of skinification in hair care recognizes the scalp as a dynamic and hormonally responsive tissue, which balance directly influences hair follicle homeostasis and hair fibre quality.1,4

The


present study highlights the dual activity of a novel silicium–adenosine complex (SiAd). By targeting sebaceous gland activity and


hair follicles, the SiAd complex is capable of modulating sebum production while promoting hair growth in a minoxidil-like effect. Furthermore, and unlike pharmacological


agents such as minoxidil and finasteride, which are associated with side effects and poor compliance,15


the SiAd complex offers a well-


tolerated alternative to conventional therapies, with potential for daily topical application. Taken together, this work shows that the SiAd


complex is a multifunctional active ingredient that supports a scalp-centred approach to hair care innovation, and may be an interesting candidate for any hair and/or scalp care cosmetic solution.
