Multifunctional hair styling BASF’s Luviset 360 provides an efficient styling performance in six dimensions: The innovative product offers strong, flexible and long-lasting hold as well as low flaking. It supports anti- pollution claims and allows for new textures. Luviset 360 is suited to producing high viscous
styling products with no or low movement inside the package. It has been designed for a wide range of final hair styling products such as gels, creams and waxes. Thanks to its self-thickening properties in
concentrations above 4 percent, Luviset 360 ensures a pleasant consistency in styling gels. Hair care manufacturers using Luviset 360 need less carbomer thickener to achieve target viscosity. Performance tests have shown that Luviset
360 provides a high degree of bending stiffness and curl retention even in formulations with low concentrations and shows excellent hold, especially under conditions of high humidity. BASF use standardised methods to measure the flexural stiffness of hair strands in climate chambers. In sensory tests for Luviset 360, this flexibility in hold is perceived as a more natural bending without breakage of the film. The innovative styling polymer also showed significantly lower flaking with a smaller and less visible size of the flakes. Sensory tests have shown that formulations
with Luviset 360 provide better peaking and cushion effects during the application on hair strands. Luviset 360 is also suitable for styling products with additional claims related to anti-pollution: BASF experts carried out tests in a pollution chamber that showed that less pollution remained on hair strands treated with Luviset 360 than on those treated with a placebo formulation. Its compatibility with numerous actives also makes Luviset 360 perfectly suitable for styling products with claims for caring effects such as moisturising or hair strengthening. The hair styling polymers – Acudyne 1000 Hair Styling Polymer and Acudyne 180 Hair Styling Polymer – can be combined in various blend ratios and use- levels to provide tailored performance. Compared to a leading aerosol hair spray, a 2:1 blend of the two polymers delivers a high level of aesthetics and excellent feel and superior humidity resistance.
Natural looking hold DSM’s polymer hair care ingredient Tilamar Fix A1000 addresses people’s aspirations for a natural look and feel to their hair with no compromise on hold. This solid synthetic acrylate copolymer bead offers exciting benefits for hairstyling spray formulations, thanks to its low solution viscosity. The product is compatible with all styling sprays but performs especially well in aerosols. DSM recommend Tilamar Fix A1000 for working sprays such as root lifting products, and in particular for fine hair, as well as for all types of finishing sprays. Tilamar Fix A1000 shows extra strong hold based on superior High Humidity Curl Retention over time and at different neutralisation levels than technology benchmarks. Its natural feel is strengthened by a very short drying phase and it is non-tacky. Tilamar Fix A1000 beads are preservative-free
and provide clear formulation solubility at both high and low VOC. It results in low viscosity with excellent propellant compatibility that perfectly supports sprayability (in particular aerosol sprays).
The ingredient is non-sticky and delivers extra
strong hold. It provides natural look and feel, is easy to remove with no style build-up. It is ideal for fine hair and as a root lifter and can be easily removed, showing no flaking and no build-up on hair.
