In vitro evaluation A skin biopsy from a healthy 32-year-old female was processed to study the effects of the active under UV and blue light stress. After treatment with or without product, biopsies were exposed to UVA/UVB or blue light, and antioxidant levels were measured. The antioxidant assay revealed that the


product significantly increased antioxidant levels, with a 42% increase under UV stress and a 28% increase under blue light stress. These results suggest that the active ingredient enhances the skin’s natural defence against oxidative damage from environmental stressors.


In vivo evaluation In vivo tests have confirmed the photostability of the active when use at 2 and 4%. Before and after irradiation of the formulation, the profile of absorbance at different wavelengths is the same which means that the formulation remains effective throughout its use. A sunscreen formulation with SPF 20


containing 2% of the active ingredient increases its SPF to 25. With 4% of the active, the SPF rises to 26.4.
