evenness was assessed with the ColorFace® technology of Newtone Technologies. For the analysis of skin colour evenness, a cross- polarized filter (CP) was utilized. Skin colour evenness is defined as the degree of colour (L*, a* and b* values) dispersion within the region of skin that is of interest.
called H76. H76 represents the mean value of colour differences between each pixel in the region of interest, in other words: H76 equals the standard deviation of the quantified colours of all the pixels in the region of interest. When skin colour is even, H76 reaches zero. The more uneven the skin colouration, the higher is H76. Almost intuitively, many consumers use
makeup bases to make the ‘canvas’, which is their skin as homogeneous in colour as possible.

As the results obtained measuring the above- described parameter H76 are scientifically relevant but hard to interpret, it is opportune to take H76, assess how a makeup base product influences H76, and then compare these results with the results that were obtained with Galdieria. This comparison was made based on a
publication by C. Batres et al. (“Cosmetics increase skin evenness: Evidence from perceptual and physical measures, Skin.” Res.
