U.S. Firms Have Irish Eyes On East Cork After Brexit

by SEAMUS WHELEHAN

It may well be the case of ‘Irish Eyes are Smiling’, as U.S companies which are most exposed to Britain’s departure from the EU, are now looking to Cork City and County to help Brex-

it-proof their businesses. Last Wednesday 20 Sep-

from San Francisco were welcomed by East Cork Municipality Chairwoman,

Fine Gael Cllr. Susan Mc- Carthy, and brought on a tour of the Jameson Herit- age Centre. This was the

No Funds for East Cork Municipality To Adopt Its Own Safety Standards

by SEAMUS WHELEHAN

Cork County Council

have commenced design work on a series of poten- tial road safety improve- ments on the R630 close to Ballinacurra Village, but say they have no mon- ey to complete the works. The news comes fol-

lowing the tabling of a Motion by Cllr Danielle Twomey at the September sitting of the East Cork Municipality.

The Sinn Fein Cllr had

been calling on the Coun- cil to install proper warn- ing signals and barriers at a pedestrian crossing link- ing Ballinacurra Village to Grotto View and the Bail- ick Road off the R630. Ms Twomey said the

road is so dangerous that residents don’t

know

whether or not they are going to make it

to the

other side of the street before getting hit by a ve- hicle.
