by SEAMUS WHELEHAN
A coffee and culture
event went down a treat at
Midleton community
tourist office last Friday 22 September. Large numbers filtered
into the tourist office for a break from the daily grind, and discover what Midle- ton and the greater East Cork area has to offer. Local arts and crafts
adorned the walls, while those who attended sam- pled a selection of foods from a diversity of East Cork cultures. A team of four head-
ed by Midleton and Area Chamber of Commerce, Tourism and Business De- velopment Officer, Andrea Gunn, spilt the beans on our great
artistic culture
and food, our beautiful walking trails less travelled, our historic landmarks and towns, and our great shop- ping and entertainment. “No one can resist a
freshly brewed cup of coffee” Gunn.
commented Ms
“We decided to throw open our doors and invite in as many people as possi- ble, to experience a flavour of the services we provide, while celebrating Culture Night a little early.” From 10:00am – 11:00am people poured into the tourist office, lo- cated at the entrance to the Jameson Heritage Centre, as Tony Harpur, Midle- ton and Area Chamber of Commerce, Heritage Committee
Chairman,
Ellen Donaldson Tour- ism Advisor and Midleton Tourism volunteer Am- bassador, Martina O’Cal- laghan pointed out a series of future projects. “It’s not just one day!
We celebrate culture here, every day. We want all businesses and community organisations, local arti- sans and crafters to know that we are here to support them.” “It’s also about promot-
ing what’s special about our area to both visitor and resident”
Gunn tells the East cork Journal.
