• Muinteoir Una’s junior infants Gaelscoil Mhainistir na Corann Nana Mary’s HOPE(s) Come True as Coffee Morning Raises €1,714 for Kolkata by DENISE
FITZGERALD “I’m blown away” said
Youghal’s Mary McDer- mott, following the very successful Coffee Morning fundraiser which she host- ed for her granddaughter,
Sophie Lawlor, who is
travelling with other young TY Students from Youghal to help the slum children in Kolkata.
Mary was
hoping to raise €1,200 and was over the moon when the amazing total came to €1,714.50. “I cannot
thank everyone enough
for their support and help” she said, “and our family is delighted to donate the surplus to local student, Jordan Lupton, who is also going to Kolkata and who has not yet reached his tar- get”.
Mary thanked her fam-
ily, friends and neighbours for the fabulous cakes and refreshments, Cumann Na Daoine for the use of their superb premises for the event, and all who sup- ported them in every way. A delighted Sophie
thanked her wonderful
Nana Mary for organising such a successful fundrais- er, her Mother, Aunts, Car- oline Scully, and everyone who did so much and who supported her fully. “The Raffle was a great success too” she said, “and I want
to say a Big Thank You to all who donated prizes and who bought tickets” Once again the
slum children of Kolkata, and that
generosity ex- gen-
erous people of Youghal supported a very worthy cause to help fulfil the dreams of a young local girl who wants to help the
tends even further as the surplus raised also brings the HOPE(s) of another young local student nearer to reaching his goal - Jor- dan’s trip to Kolkata. Well done all.
