and Middle East, people are much less resistant to this type of technology than they have been in Europe,” said John. “I think there’s a good reason for that. Europe has had a number of systems out there that haven’t really worked very well. With Constellation, we offer unique, time constant patented technology and we always embrace the entire room in our designs. Some systems rely on just four microphones over the stage, and they then create electronic reverberation that’s distributed to the rest of the room via loudspeakers, but that is only partly successful because it doesn’t embrace the entire room. “One of the principal attributes of Constellation is that it addresses all of the communication issues in a hall. So the musicians can hear themselves, the audience can hear the musicians, the musicians can hear the audience, and the audience can hear themselves. There are all these communication issues that need to be satisfied in order for a hall to be successful. Constellation addresses all of those issues; some of the competing systems don’t do that.” With patented reverberators that are unique to Meyer Sound, it would seem that Constellation’s impact on the electro-acoustic market is secure. The success of any system is determined by how effective it is, and ultimately, how much it is enjoyed by the users. In this case, the users are both the performer and audience, and John believes this unifying backbone is what sets it apart from other systems. “The central tenet of Constellation is to embrace the entire building and I think that’s why it is so successful. When people come into the room, it doesn’t matter if they are onstage or if they’re in the middle of the audience, if they clap their hands they hear reverberation. And people find that very cool. Once people lock into the flexibility of the system, and how natural it sounds, they get it. We’ve had 80 acousticians and consultants come through here for demos, and not one of them has said it sounds unnatural. I can put my hand on my heart and say that. So we’re kind of pleased about that.”
