REPORT 039
COMPANY: Laserworld
Can you give us a brief background of your company? Laserworld is a very dynamic and important show laser manufacturing and distribution company. We sell over 3,000 laser systems per month and have a permanent stock of over 7,000 laser units. Laserworld has product stocks in Switzerland (headquarters), Germany (main stock) and Chicago, USA. Due to the sales volumes and the permanent product development, we’re able to give a worldwide ‘best buy guarantee’ for our products. We do a 100% quality control testing for all our products to ensure our product quality. The product range starts at very small laser systems - about 60mW - and reaches up to very high professional systems with over 60W of power. Exclusive brands under Laserworld distribution are: Laserworld for the basic product range up to professional systems with up to 10W power; SwissLas for high performance modules and IP67 waterproof laser projectors; and RTI (sub- sidiary) as high end manufacturing line for laser systems. For software products we feature Phoenix show controller and Pangolin laser control software.
In what type of applications are we likely to see your products? Our products are used in nightclubs, at outdoor events, in amusement parks, at private parties, on cruise ships, in advertisements, at product demonstrations, inaugurations, openings of expos, opening ceremonies, at art installations, some- times even for industrial purposes.
What is your best selling product? Why do you think that is? Due to our wide product range we have several top selling products – depending on the customer group. Smaller products, for smaller clubs, Laserworld CS- 2000RGB. It is a full colour laser (white light and RGB), that has an extremely low price but is good quality. Besides auto, DMX and music mode, it is computer controllable, so also suitable for professional use. High speed scanner upgrade is available, but the normal set-up is already great for clubs with up to 1,200 sq
metres. For professional solutions, Laserworld RTI PIKO 4 RGB, which is a super compact laser system (cube of only 22cm), with professional CT-6210 scanners and output power of up to 4W RGB power. The unit comes with external remote control pad for easily making output adjustments.
What do you think lasers add to a show or performance? Lasers are emotional products. Show lasers enhance every show with their unique special beam effect. The light power of laser rays can not be reached by any conventional lighting source, and that makes lasers perfect for emphasising product presentations, for emotionalising an event, and for highlighting the status of a nightclub.
What does the future hold for show lasers? And for your company? Laserworld continuously grew during the past few years, even during the eco- nomical crisis. We just hired additional staff and extended our production facili- ties. Laserworld integrated a new subsidiary (RTI), founded a new subsidiary in China and continuously impact markets with high potential, like China (with high end laser systems, they can not build themselves), the Asian and US markets. Show lasers will become more and more important to lighting design, as prices are, nowadays, at a reasonably low level and the effects can not be achieved by any conventional lighting source. From our market position we can clearly see that the demand for professional systems is growing and that customers from outside the industry look for our systems. In advertsing, for example. Laserworld not only gained market share from former competitors, but also was and will be able to extend business to customer groups that didn’t think of us- ing lasers previously, but are attracted by the effects that can be achieved and related costs.
