large number of visitors. Michael Nicholson caught up with some of the show’s exhibitors to get their thoughts. Christie Digital’s Vice President EMEA, Dale Miller, said: “This is the fourth time we’ve exhibited at Mediatech, so we’re really getting the feel for it now. We’re really pleased with the show. The industry, locally, really comes out and supports it, and everyone comes out and supports it. “I think the biggest difference [from two years ago] is the level of investment that the community have put. Some of the booths, some of the design, you know, people have spent some time effort and money. I think that’s been reflected in the number of people that come through. The show has worked, it’s worked well.” Bernard Pienaar , Co-Director of Viva Afrika – distributors of D.A.S Audio and Numark, and manufacturers of its own product lines – commented: “We’re very happy with the show. We’ve had a record attendance and a lot of interest in our products and our brands. This year it’s a lot more vibrant, there’s a lot more inter- est. The organisers have done a very good job at marketing the show, it’s better known. And for us, the outdoor area has been a much bigger success. It’s been a very good show for us.” Alex Bryan, Fenix’s Export Manager, said: “I think it’s a very good show, I didn’t ex- pect it to be quite as nice as it is. It looks like a European show, a lot of the booths are well made. There is a lot of people, which is the best thing. All three days have been crowded. I’m happy, I’m very happy. “I knew that the South African market is a growing market, companies are coming here to make business because there are new companies and there are a lot of events, new installations and projects to do. I considered it very necessary to be here, and like I say, we are happy with how it has gone.”

John Silver, General Manager of First Technology Audio, trading as Audiosure, enthused: “I think this has been a revelation, actually. The show’s been terrific. It feels like there have been a lot more people attending, there seems to me to be a lot more exhibitors doing their thing. It looks like a great show; it looks more like the overseas shows. Of course, we’ve got the outdoor area where we’re showing off our Martin Audio line array, which has been absolutely blowing me away and everybody else too.” American DJ’s Export Manager, Jos Reulen was also positive: “Mediatech was ex- tremely good for us. It was the first time that we participated in the show, and I feel that immediately the response was excellent. People appreciated the good quality and image of ADJ. We have been active in South Africa for two years now, with our distributor Legacy Brands, and really pushing for one year. I think the show was professional, for sure. A bit small, but the major players were there, and I think the organisation did a good job, keeping it clean, smooth and professional. DWR’s Duncan Riley said: “The DWR team went to great lengths prior to, and during Mediatech, to organise our 15 international guests and suppliers repre- sentatives who attended the show, and we really appreciate all their hard work and presence on our stand. The interest in South Africa is proof that things are ‘happening’ here and that we’re on par with the latest technology and trends worldwide. The organisers of Mediatech put in a tremendous effort in promoting the show, enabling us to met new sectors as well as our existing clients on a one- to-one basis. We’d like to thank Simon Robinson and his team for making sure that Mediatech continues to grow from strength to strength.”
