speaker cabinets have been fitted as delays. Monitoring for both comedy and band performances is taken care of by five CN 112 multi-purpose cabinets. The Comedy Store sound system is powered by Lab.gruppen FP10000 amplifiers, and controlled using a HK Audio Firnet management system. It is also equipped with an Allen & Heath iLive-T112 console, and an iDR-8 matrix mixer. The main PA system at Canvas comprises two HK Audio Cohedra Compact hangs, each with five CDR 108C line array mid / high units. Groundstacked underneath the left and right arrays are a CT 118 subwoofer and a CDR 210C mid bass cabinet per side. Directly under the DJ booth there are two Cohedra CDR 210 10-inch subwoofers built into the podium. DJs have been equipped with a Pioneer kit including two CDJ-1000 CD decks and a DJM-800 DJ mixer, while two HK Audio CN 115 speakers are used for DJ monitors. For outfills, nearfills and the upper balcony level, a total of eight IL compact 2-way enclosures from HK Audio’s Installation Line have been supplied. Christian continued: “For HK Audio, this project is definitely a great first reference on the Indian market. We only recently started distribution in India and almost immediately this project came up. It shows the potential of our Concert Sound and Install Sound products - from the spoken word to loud dance music, we can deliver and demonstrate the quality of our products. The most important thing, however, is the satisfaction of the customer, and according to Event and Stage Manager Tom Course, everybody is very happy with the results.” Despite audio being Andy’s first vocation, he also oversaw the lighting specification at Canvas. Integrated Entertainment Solutions (IES) were invited to make a bid to supply moving heads, LEDs and control for Canvas. The company has more than 15 years experience in the entertainment industry, and this kind of project was within its usual remit. Coupled with the fact that IES had worked with the

architect and lighting designer on previous projects, it made perfect sense to hire IES for the job. IES set to work on designing the layout for the moving head fixtures and LED cable controls. MD of IES, Rasesh Parekh, said: “The project brief was to create a canvas of colours at the venue so that the mood could be changed dependant on the situation. We have achieved this by integrating all of the lighting into a single DMX control desk specified by the operation personnel (Andy). “We have used our own IES brand LED control systems, which include DMX decoders and line drivers along with IES DMX splitters to achieve a single point control of the lights across the entire venue, be it the RGB LED strips, ground uplighters, warm white strips, or the Robe moving lights.”

The IES installation team was led by Mahesh Pawar. The team elected to install six Robe Color Spot 575 AT moving heads, four Robe Scan 575 XT scanners and two Robe Faze 1000 FT fog machines. Rasesh said: “With Robe you get guaranteed quality and an excellent after sales service, plus it does help that Robe fixtures are also reasonably priced.”

The Robe fixtures were teamed with LED curtain downlights, RGB LED flexible strips, and LED bar uplighters, which create a decorative atmosphere within the club, and help to define the different areas of the venue.

The control system for the LED fixtures was manufactured by IES. Rasesh continued: “The management was extremely particular about the control they needed for various locations. A feature that we are extremely proud of is our design of the DMX signal control system. It means a single point control can be achieved at different locations depending on the desired level of control. This was achieved by the innovative use of IES DMX splitters.”

This DMX signal control system was then integrated into an
