and integration in an educational format. Some even gave attendees the opportuni- ty to participate in the sessions. Key notes speakers travelled from around the world to be part of the seminar program, while Australian industry experts, and support from the associations, completed the line-up of presenters. Entech TV was a new feature for 2011. It was a platform that since its launch in August 2010 - a year before the event - has been used to communicate news about the show, the latest news from the pro audio, lighting, and AV worlds, as well as interviews with industry experts and company profiles. Entech TV then went live during the show days, giving exhibitors the chance to communicate their latest news and thoughts. On the show floor itself, there was plenty for visitors to see. CMI Music & Audio was promoting Tascam, a brand it has recently taken under its belt. CMI is con- fident the new brand will open up new market possibilities for the company - the broadcasting market in particular. Together with the recent appointment as Duran Audio’s Australian distributor, CMI is looking forward to taking on some new and different, high profile projects in the very near future. The ULA Group showcased Robe’s Robin MMX Spot alongside the Robin 300 and 600 LED Washes, the Avolites Titan Mobile, Wireless Solution’s G4, and the ArKaos A30 media server on its eye-catching stand. Perhaps its most striking feature was provided courtesy of the new, versatile, curve shaped VuePix C Series screens. ULA MD Con Biviano said: “Entech 2011 was a very successful show for us. We have received very positive feedback from our customers, which confirms that we are offering the right balance of lighting and visual products in today’s market.” Show Technology returned to Entech, after being absent from the show for almost 10 years. MD Emmanuel Ziino said a number of aspects influenced his decision

to return. The company had plenty to offer the visitors with products from all of its major brands including Martin Professional, GLP, MA Lighting, coolux, Pulsar, Stu- dioDue, Look Solutions and Robert Juliat. The Show Technology team welcomed support from a number of colleagues representing the manufacturers, including Soren Storm of Martin Professional, Jens Poehlker of MA Lighting, and Mark Ravenhill from GLP. There were some key distributors and manufacturers that were absent from Entech. A possible reason for this could be that those companies have either chosen not to exhibit at any Australian tradeshows this year, or have opted to exhibit at just one, and selected Integrate (due to take place at the end of August). Integrate focuses more on AV and integration technology, so on the one hand, by appealing to difference audiences, the two shows can potentially exist side by side, however, there is a definite overlap in some areas. And, with Integrate rumoured to be moving to the same location at Darling Harbour next year, tensions could arise. Integrate was purcahsed earlier this year by Diversified and the company plans to expand the show, therefore it will require as a more accessible location with more space and facilities for exhibitors. This year some of the major distributors decided to exhibit at both shows, but will they be able to continue doing so? Speaking to people on the show floor, they sim- ply couldn’t say at this time, it’ll be a decision that’s made when the two shows run in the same year and just six weeks apart. It’s going to be a waiting game. Entech certainly doesn’t seem phased by its rival tradeshow, which is technically still in its infancy. The organisers have already announced the Entech 2013 dates.

Entech will partner with SMPTE again, with the next show taking place on 23 - 25 July 2013 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.
