This impressive BTEC National qualification can take you all the way to university, or lead you straight into employment in the childcare industry.


Evidence your work correctly and gain Early Years Educator Status as a Level 3 Practitioner


Throughout the two years, you’ll study a wide variety of topics which relate to the theory and practice of children’s play, learning and development. You will complete 750 hours of work experience, during which you’ll learn a huge amount about the working environments of different childcare settings. This is a coursework and skills-based programme, with only one exam. It is challenging and involves a fast-moving and demanding programme which requires you to link childcare theory with practice both in college and during work placements.

Progression Many students progress to Higher Education, usually to early childhood studies, teaching or nursing; although the UCAS points you’ll earn can provide access to many other programmes of study. Lots of our students also progress directly to employment, both locally and abroad.


How long? Two years.


What do I need?


You will have to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.


Entry requirements for Two-year Level 3 Extended National Diplomas are outlined on page 19.


Alternatively, we accept applicants who have successfully completed a relevant Level 2 qualification.
