PRODUCT DESIGN A Level

We’ve created this Product Design (3D Design) A Level to help you take a really broad view of design and technology. This fascinating qualification will develop your ability to design and make products and enable you to understand the complex relations between design, materials, manufacture and marketing.
You’ll explore construction materials in depth: natural woods, man-made boards, laminates and veneers, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, polymers, elastomers, composites, compliant, smart and modern materials and adhesives. Other important topics you’ll study include environmental/sustainability issues, ergonomics and anthropometrics, inclusive design and consumer safety.
PSYCHOLOGY A Level

This qualification focuses on the exciting examination of all aspects of human behaviour
Ever wondered why people do the things they do? Wonder why you find revision difficult or you seem more stressed about things than your friends? Psychologists conduct experiments to create theories about why these and every other aspect of human behaviour happens. During the course, you will be involved in discussions, debates, presentations, problem-solving and group work.
In the first year, we study introductory topics in psychology including social influence, memory and attachment. We also study psychopathology (abnormal behaviour) and students are introduced to different psychological approaches ranging from biology to social psychology.
In the second year, you will cover a smaller range of fascinating topics in greater detail including the study of social relationships, schizophrenia and criminal/forensic psychology.

Careers in the product design field are limitless. From 3D structural design, to design manager for graphics and packaging; product design development to gift and home design.

Progression The study of psychology can lead to a variety of career paths. Students can tailor their route through university and careers to focus on speciality areas that appeal to their interests, such as forensic psychology, clinical psychology, sports psychology, health and medicine, child psychology and advertising and marketing.
