PERFORMING ARTS (ACTING)

This subject is designed to give practical hands-on experience in the performing arts, exploring a variety of acting styles. Modules covered include devising drama, contemporary and classical theatre, improvisation and physical theatre.
Perform in professional surroundings at our Petroc theatre
In the first year, you will study two units: Investigating Practitioners’ Work, where you will develop critical analysis skills and contextual understanding of how practitioners communicate themes in their work, and Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance, which focuses on developing and demonstrating skills and techniques in at least two performance styles within a selected discipline.
In Year 2, you will study two further units: Group Performance Workshop, where you will explore and integrate creative, physical and performance skills and techniques, working collaboratively to create a performance in response to a given stimulus. The final unit, Specialist Skills Development, is optional and will develop the core skills relevant to musical theatre performance.

Progression Students have progressed to Higher Education at establishments such as E15, Central School of Speech and Drama, LIPA, Rose Bruford, Bath Spa University and the University of East Anglia. We offer excellent foundation degrees at Petroc too, so you can take your performing to a higher level without the stress and cost of moving away.
