MAKE-UP ARTISTRY Technical Certificate

You’ll learn the exciting skills of a make-up artist. You’ll study Health & Safety, Client Care and Communication, Client Consultation, Skincare, Eyelash and Eyebrow Treatments, Make-up Application, Tanning, Hair Styling and Dressing and Competition Work.
During this stimulating and creative course, you will build up a portfolio of your work, including set assignments and evidence of your developing practical skills. On going assessment is by multiple choice question tests that you complete online, as well as working on clients to gain competency and confidence within this speciality field. Throughout the qualification, we will also be working on the development of your employability skills as well as your Maths and English.
THEATRICAL, SPECIAL EFFECTS & MEDIA MAKE-UP ARTISTRY Technical Diploma
The art of creative make-up for the theatre and film industry is an endlessly fascinating field of study. With modern techniques and materials, you can conjure up extraordinary effects, if you have the know-how and skills. This study programme covers all practical application of media make-up, SFX and creative hair styling for the theatre, television and advertising.
Learn the secrets of photographic and special effects make-up
You will be introduced to the secrets of all aspects of media make-up, including the art of body and face painting, photographic make-up, special effects make-up such as cuts, bruising, ageing, prosthetics and bald caps. You’ll also learn about creative hair design and use of wigs. The essentials of working with other technical areas and performers in the industry and health and safety are also looked at in depth.
On going assessment is by multiple choice question tests that you complete online, as well as working on clients to gain competency and confidence within this speciality field.

Progression Following successful completion of the course, you will be invited to continue your studies with us. For a career within the industry you should progress onto Level 3 Theatrical, Special Effects & Media Make-up. However, should you wish to take an alternative route you can study further and specialise in either Nail Technology or Beauty Therapy.

Progression Following successful completion of the course, you will be invited to continue your studies with us. Should you wish to take an alternative route you can study further and specialise in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy, or Level 4 Diploma in Management Practice and Advanced Techniques. Equally, you are now ready to work within the industry as an assistant to the senior make-up artist or you can apply to university.
