PLUMBING STUDIES Diploma


If becoming a plumber is your dream, this study programme could be the perfect start. The qualification will not only develop your practical plumbing skills; you’ll also gain the knowledge you’ll need on subjects like general health and safety, science, properties of water including force, pressure, heat transfer and corrosion, as well as environmental considerations and communication within the building services environment.


Ideal for those setting their sights on a career in plumbing but don’t have an apprenticeship


The practical parts of this programme will see you learning to work with a range of plumbing materials such as copper, plastic and low carbon steel. You’ll also learn about the challenges of system maintenance and fault- finding. All aspects of the course will be studied through both classroom-based theory sessions and practical- based workshop sessions.


Your study programme will include tutorial sessions and work experience. You will also study Maths and English if required.


PLUMBING STUDIES Diploma


If you have completed the Level 1 Plumbing study programme, this Level 2 qualification is designed to build on the skills and knowledge that you have already gained. You will be encouraged to find work experience so that you can apply skills learnt at college to actual workplace situations. Level 2 units include, Health & Safety, Electrical, Science, Cold and Hot Water, Sanitation and Heating.


A valuable qualification recognised by the plumbing industry


The one-year programme includes a mixture of both theory and practical assessments, to help you develop the skills and knowledge required to meet plumbing industry standards. In combination with work experience or employment, this gives you the opportunity to begin your plumbing career with a valuable Level 2 qualification.


Your study programme will include tutorial sessions and work experience. You will also study Maths and English if required.

Progression If you successfully complete the Level 1 programme, you will have the opportunity to progress on to the Level 2 qualification. If you are able to secure employment in the plumbing industry, an apprenticeship could be an option for you. If you want to explore what else the construction industry has to offer, progression to another course within the architecture and construction field will be available to you. A career in plumbing could be in the domestic, industrial or commercial sectors.
