WOOD OCCUPATIONS - BENCH JOINERY Diploma


Would you enjoy making complex wood products like doors, frames, staircases and hand rails to exact specifications? If so, bench joinery is the course for you. This study programme helps candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and career progression in bench joinery.


Make complex joinery products like doors, frames and staircases


There are seven units including: Health and Safety, Knowledge of Information, Building Methods and Technology, Setting out Details, Marking Out, Manufacture of Joinery Products and Safe Use of a Circular Saw. All units will be assessed for knowledge by question and answer on our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) system. Synoptic assessments will take place to check that you have acquired the practical skills needed to successfully complete this course.


WOOD OCCUPATIONS - SITE JOINERY Diploma


This study programme helps candidates learn, develop and hone the skills needed to practise carpentry on a construction site.


Learn a wide range of skills to enable you to work in a variety of settings


You will study a range of units which include: Health and Safety, Knowledge of Information and Building Methods and Technology. You will also study the main site carpentry units which include: First and Second Fix, Carcassing, Carpentry Maintenance and Use of Circular Saws. All units are covered in theory and practical sessions. You will undertake practical assessments to make sure you’ve acquired the high skills needed in the industry.


Fact file: Progression


On completion of this diploma, you may progress to employment, an apprenticeship or another course within the architecture and construction field, in order to specialise further.

Successful completion of the Level 1 Carpentry & Joinery course, or equivalent experience.
