Hospitality and catering is a world with all kinds of opportunities and, if it appeals to you, this study programme should serve up just the start you need, with plenty of hands-on practical experience and the opportunity to progress on to a higher level course or enter employment as an apprentice.


Work as part of a team in our brand new professional kitchens


This qualification is for students who aim to gain practical skills in a professional kitchen and restaurant environment. You will cover a range of topics from basic meat, fish, poultry and vegetable preparation, cake and dough products, through to team and customer service skills. As well as practical experience, you will also gain knowledge through theory work in a range of subjects such as Introduction to the Hospitality Industry, Healthy Eating, Food Service and Customer Service.


Real work experience to enhance employability can also form part of the programme in our brand new, modern commercial kitchen and restaurants.


Assessments are based primarily on practical work, however, you will also have to complete short-answer questions and small assignments throughout the year. You will be given full guidance and support to help you with your assessments.

On this practical programme, you will learn subjects such as Patisserie, Culinary Meat Dishes, World Food and Bakery. Meat, Fish and Vegetable Cookery, Wine Appreciation and Table Theatre Techniques. You will develop your talents through working in our brand new, state-of-the-art kitchens and contemporary restaurant.


You will be assessed on practical culinary performance and on written assignments. Work experience can form part of the programme and there may even be opportunities to experience food and culture in another European country.
