55 Ballinacurra Pub Quiz Raises €760 for Time for Tilara

by ALAN SHEEHAN & CLAUDIA SHANAHAN O’KEEFFE

The table quiz held

in Ballinacurra in aid of Time for Tilara was very well supported last Friday, 28 April, raising almost €800. The

table quiz was held in O’Meara’s pub

in Ballinacurra and saw approximately 50 people take part to raise money for Tilara Costa-Holmes, a six-year-old girl from Midleton who requires a serious spinal surgery. “The pub quiz went

very well,” said Noel Mc- Donagh, a member of the Time for Tilara fund- raising committee. “It went very well and was

well attended. We had about 12 teams of four present on the night. It raised €760. We want to thank O’Meara’s for their support and for hosting the event and thank the sponsors, all local busi- nesses, for the sport and raffle prizes.” The table quiz followed

two days after eight class- es, from junior infants

up to sixth class, from St John the Baptist Nation- al School, Midleton held a charity walk in aid of their schoolmate Tilara. “The school walk was

a tremendous success,” said Mr McDonagh. “The

children raised

€4,000. The final figure isn’t in yet, so it could be €4,000 plus. We would like to thank the principal

Elma Huggard, the staff and teachers for organis- ing it and the volunteers for taking charge of the walk.” Time for Tilara will

be the beneficiary of a Nearly New Sale which will be held in St John the Baptist Church Hall, Midleton from 6-9pm this Friday, 5 May and Saturday, 6 May from

11am-4pm. On Sunday, 7 May the Granary Food- store, Midleton will hold Afternoon Tea at €20 per person with tickets still available from the venue or through contacting the Time for Tilara website. The Time for Tilara

trust was set up to raise €140,000 to cover the costs of selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) surgery

and post-operative reha- bilitation for Tilara, who was diagnosed with spas- tic diplegia cerebral palsy, a condition which causes chronic pain and restricts her movement and. More information can
