by ANTHONY LAWTON
One of the most impor-
tant aspects of wellbeing is having confidence and self-love. A lot of people find this difficult but let’s look at one way of devel- oping and enhancing this part of our lives. Mirror work is a great way to communicate with your- self on deep levels and heal your mind, body and spirit through reflection. We may look in the mir- ror every day, but how of- ten do we take the time to really see and reflect upon who we are and what we want to be? We often use mirrors as critical tools to examine our bodies and pick out the tiny lines and imperfections
we wish
weren’t there. Mirror work is an op- portunity to become friends with your own reflection. When you can do that, you become grounded in your own power and much happier and positively mindful in your life. Mirror work is a
great way to build self-es- teem, change negative self-talk and learn to love the person looking back at you instead of find- ing flaws. When we can do this, we can achieve a sense of freedom and power that we can utilise in everyday life. You can work with mir-
rors for many different purposes, but the most popular reasons are for healing the spirit or man- ifesting goals. A simple place to start with mirror work is to gaze into the glass and repeat an affir- mation or round of man- tras, saying each one a set number of times. These kinds of experiences can allow you to reprogram your mind to focus on positive intentions, cre- ating a more harmonious life. You can also use mir-
ror work techniques to see auras and for deep meditation, or for training yourself to experience as- tral projection. Many peo- ple like to journal their experiences to examine how they feel and what they notice. In addition, you can use a mirror to radiate love, light, protec- tion and healing into your living space through its
position in a room (in the same way you might use a crystal). Many spiritual- ists also use mirrors to re- flect away negative ener- gy and boost their magic in addition to mirror work for personal development. So, how can it help you
with your confidence? We often internalise lots of negative internal mon- ologue, and, while some people do it more often than others, no-one is im- pervious to it. When we are able to replace this self-talk with positive words while looking in the mirror, our confidence grows because the per- son we trust the most (the person looking back at us in the glass) is telling us that we are good enough, smart enough and strong enough. Over time, we begin to accept this as the truth. Once that happens, our self-esteem can really begin to blossom.
5 simple steps to help you get started 1: Decide on the out-
come that you want- whether it’s healing a spe- cific emotion, unlocking a psychic power or achiev- ing a goal 2: Decide on a posi-
tive affirmation you want to use to represent that goal – it should be short and simple, yet careful- ly worded to represent what you really desire. Try turning this statement around so it is more pos- itive in order to better manifest a target. For ex- ample, instead of saying ‘’I don’t want to be afraid to face this challenge’’ try ‘’I have courage in the face of this challenge’’. 3: Focus on your own reflection. Instead of ‘looking’ in the mirror, really ‘see’ who you are by focusing deeply on your pupils. You are not examining your physical features- this exercise is to get you to look deeper into your own spirit. 4: Once you have found
that spiritual gaze, repeat the mantra that you have prepared while looking deeply into your eyes. See your reflection mirroring the statement back to you and repeat the affirma- tion as many times as you need. You will find it’s exactly what you need to hear, and is coming from the most reliable of all sources – YOU! 5: Breathe deeply as
you take the message in and allow it to become
part of your being. Re- main with your reflection for as long as you wish.
Smile, be grateful and laugh if you feel the urge. Remember that the most
powerful influence in your life is the person in the mirror.
