May 2017 Hundreds of Students in Youghal for First Cut Youth Film Festival by DENISE FITZGERALD Presented by Yew
Wood Venues, the fourth First Cut Youth Film Fes- tival which was hosted in Youghal Mall Arts Centre, attracted over 800 young students aged from ages 12-18 years during the
three day event which was held from Thursday 27 to Saturday 29 April. An extensive Festival
included, on the first day, a Youghal Primary School Animation Programme which was attended by pu- pils and teachers from lo- cal schools Bunscoil Mhu- ire, Gaelscoil Choráin,
and South Abbey NS. This was followed with Secondary Schools

Programme, hosted by pupils of Pobalscoil na Tríonóide Youghal which showed, on the big screen, a selection of the best Short Films made by 6th class students from 14 Secondary Schools.

Coláiste Muire Cobh and Pobalscoil na Trionóide Youghal. The Open Submissions
Programme on Saturday was followed by a Public Workshop, hosted by Pe- ter Foott, for which there was standing room only. The Awards Ceremo-
ny concluded a Festival which was superbly or- ganised, hugely support- ed, included an impres- sive line up of screenings, workshops and talks by film industry profession- als, and Awards present- ed in categories which included Fiction, Docu- mentary, Animation and
Music Video. All events
and screenings were free of charge and open to the public. Congratulations to the
organisers, hosts and all involved with this spec- tacular Festival, which attracted so many to the beautiful town of Youghal.
