Youghal Vintage Club Get Into Gear for COPE Foundation

Youghal Vintage Club will host


their Annual


Vintage Run on Sunday next, 7th


May, with all pro-


ceeds for the very worthy charity, COPE Founda- tion. Speaking with The


East Cork Journal Phil Hogan said the Vintage Run will assemble at Far- rell’s Bar, Summerfield at 11am with everyone ready to roll by 12noon. “All tractors, modern and new, cars, motorbikes etc., are very welcome to join with us for the Charity Run”, he said, “and there will be refreshments pro- vided en route”. By Kathleen Woulfe The A.GM. of the above took place on April 24th at “My Place”, The Green Midleton and was well attended. Apologies received from Ms Mary Woods and Council- lor Michael Hegarty. Chairperson Ms Helen Joyce welcomed everyone in- cluding Councillor Susan McCarthy and Minister David Stanton T.D. Susan McCarthy spoke of zoned planning for Waterock and access to road also ARUP conference held in Mid- leton Park Hotel re flooding. Consultant Engineers had Hydrology reports and 6.2 million funding. Questions were asked by Ms Helen Joyce regarding foot- hpaths for Main Street and felt similar to those already there would be dangerous in wet weather. Susan said there may be a decision soon re Housing and Mortgage to rent Scheme. Minister Stanton in his address thanked all who attended and paid tribute to Councillor McCarthy for her work at Council Level. He said that the International situation was volatile and Government legislation was lasting and heading for full employment. He said many people were returning to Ireland and the highest growth rates in Eu- rope. He said C.C.T.V. was launched in Midleton and this system would be a huge benefit to business in town and also for social behaviour. Birthday greetings were extended to our esteemed leader and Taoiseach Mr. Enda Kenny and get well wishes were sent to Olive Curran, mother of Susan McCarthy and Joe Wall. Election of Officers and Committee then took place and was chaired by Minister Stanton. Honoury Presidents: Mr. Michael Woulfe, Mr. Noel Hales and Ms Mary Woods. Refreshments were then served to all members present courtesy of Mary Stanton and staff of “My Place”.
