Strand United 1 V Carrigtwohill 1 Player of the Match; Cian O’Riordan This was a disappoint-
ing result but the team gave their all so we can’t have any complaints. The weather was poor, as was the pitch itself so it was always going to be a hard slog for the players. Carrigtwohill started
well and the lads took the pre-match instructions on work rate and attitude lit- erally and applied them- selves really well. Carrigtwohill were
on top for the first 20 mins when leading scor- er Adam Rooney scored from a lovely free kick. This was Adam’s 11th goal in 10 games so far this season ! (Who needs Christiano Ronaldo?) Shotely
afterwards, Eoin Holden was very
unlucky not to add to a second goal but after this period Strand gained con- fidence and Carrigtwohill struggled to convert any of the chances created. The game was more
even in the second half although Carrigtwohill were awarded a penalty which was missed. Strand played much
better in the second half and bunched the
play
in midfield which made it very difficult to play through. This tactic worked for them and they duly nicked an equaliser near the end. Carrigtwohill had a
chance to snatch a victory at the end and are disap- pointed not to have taken all
three points but the
lads worked their socks off - it just didn’t happen on the day.
Cian O’Riordan was
superb at left back and stopped everything on his wing. Oisin Lynch and Tom Savage did very
well at centre-back. Eoin Holden worked extreme- ly hard at centre forward and was unlucky not to be rewarded with a goal. Well done all round. Congrats to Decem-
ber player of the month Adam Rooney. Happy Christmas to all
our players and their fam- ilies. Player of the Match: Cian O’Riordan

Carrigaline A 0 V Carrigtwohill 1 After a couple of disap- pointing results
recently,
Carrigtwohill headed into a difficult away tie against Carrigaline
last Satur-
day morning. A good re- sult was required to keep pushing in the league and the squad knew a big ef- fort was required. It was the home team
that started brightly as it took Carrigtwohill some

MATCH REPORTS: Aura Leisure Centre Youghal Under 12 Premier Division Superb
Performance from Our Under-12s Ramblers 3 Ballymac FC A Kyle Moloney Bobby Coonan Shane Coughlan Our 12s took to the Pab-
lo Park pitch on Saturday morning with a spring in there step after a few po- sitional changes had the team ready to rock follow- ing a great midweek train- ing session. The boys re- acted superbly and showed just why they are the reign- ing champions with a com- plete performance against the always solid Ballymac A. In fairness to the Bal- lymac boys they were missing a few regulars but
the performance our boys gave on Saturday morning not many teams would live with them in that
form.
Right from the off they were camped in the Bally- mac half of the pitch and relentless pressure on there rearguard finally told after 8mins when the superb Kyle Moloney finished off a good move to give us the lead, Ben Lombard provid- ed the assist but Kyles turn and shoot across the keep- er was a great finish. Noah O’Sulllivan and Kyle on the wings were causing all sorts of trouble and this is where most of the play was happening with Captain Ben Lombard driving the midfield helped by Conor Carey and Bobby Coonan. Liam Devine and Darragh O’Neill were excellent in helping Peter Buckner keep a clean sheet as they snuffed out the Ballymac counter attacks. Subs Ro- nan Douris, Dylan Foley and Finn O’Brien played
their part in a fine win when introduced during the game. The second goal came
on 22 mins when the ball broke to Shane Cough- lan 20 yards from goal, he took a touch and his curling shot bent into the top left hand corner for a beauty of a goal to give us a 2-0 lead. Bobby Coonan then almost finished off the move of the game as six or seven passing moves saw Noah swing in a great ball to the edge of the area and as Bobby met the ball on the run with a fine shot it sailed just over the cross- bar. 2-0 at Halftime. The second half was of the same with gal-
more
Ballymac defending lantly
and their keeper
Gerald Nugent made some fine saves through- out from Ben Lombard and Noah O’Sullivan es- pecially. Dylan Foley also saw an effort clawed away when he looked certain to
time to get going. Carri- galine had the lion’s share of possession and territo- ry but were unable to turn this into chances as the Carrigtwohill back four were
playing superbly.
Meanwhile, Anesh Swani and Evan Donnelly were creating chances on the break at the other end. Scott McCarthy, play-
ing in midfield was having a superb match and with Darragh Hoare and Daire Sullivan commanding in the back line, Carrigaline had just one gilt edged chance in the first half – a near-post shot which Dar- ren Flynn in goals was able to deal with superbly. Half-time was an op- portunity to take
stock
of the match and a few switches were made – with Robert Adam mov- ing up top as striker and Conor Carroll coming in at left-back for the injured Ronan Ymedi who had an excellent first half. The second half
was
played at a very high tempo and credit to both teams for the entertain- ment. However,
as the match progressed, it was
score. The third goal did arrive and a great
strike
it was as Bobby Coonan struck a cracker from 25 yards into the top corner leaving Nugent in goal no chance. This was the final score of the game but an all round superb perfor- mance probably our best of the season to date and more of the same will be required with only three league
games remaining
we are level with last sea- son’s finalists Kilworth Celtic who beat Mogeely away 2-0 also. The league is now between the to of us and the final game of the season sees Kilworth visit Pablo Park in what could be the league decider as this season different
to
last will see the champions crowned by whoever has the most points and not in a final. With three games remaining we are both on 19 points from our seven games to date and has the makings of a cracking end to the season coming 2017.

Valley last Saturday for the second week in a row following last weeks U15 game, and for the second week in a row suffered defeat. Last week we were short numbers and gave a great account of our- selves with a fine perfor- mance but this week the performanace wasn’t
as
good and Valley deserved to beat us and probably means we will finish sec- ond in the League table after finishing our cam- paign. We are joint leaders at present but Inch have a game in hand v Ardmore who are bottom of the table so they should beat them and claim top spot. Either way we will get a home semi final 2nd against the

team who should be Valley or Brideview.
