Park National School Fundraiser Raises Over €1800 From An Amazing Flower Demonstration Evening

by LEAH RING and ANDREA

CUNNINGHAM Over €1,800 was raised

for Park National School, Inch through a flower ar- rangement demonstration held on Friday, 9 Decem- ber.

The event was coordi-

nated by the Park National School Parents Association and held in the newly re- furbished Inch Communi- ty Hall. Co-organiser of the demonstration and mem- ber of the Park National School Parents’ Associa-

tion Sinead Murphy said: “We had a great night and it was fantastic to raise over €1,800 for the school. All of that now will go to- wards things the kids in the school need, rather than the general running cost of the school.” The Parents Association

hope to be able to purchase jerseys for the school teams and assist with other items the children may need in the future.

A Magical Christmas

was the theme of the fund- raising night and DJ Mur- phy from Bandon Garden Centre and Kilcumley

Ope n House led the

demonstration. Mrs Murphy explained:

“There were about 13 flower arrangement that were all Christmas themed and they were just fantas- tic.” The group decided to

host a different type of fundraiser

to help earn

much needed funds for the school. “We thought it would be something a bit

different

for a fundraiser. I know the work DJ does as well, which is amazing and it all seemed fitting coming up to Christmas,” Mrs Mur- phy explained. Park National School is

a two-teacher school which was founded in the 1800s. Thirty-seven pupils at-

tend the school with the junior room comprising

55

of junior infants, senior in- fants, first and second class and the senior room made up of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth class pupils. It is one of four prima-

ry schools in the Parish of Killeagh and the present building was opened

in

1951. Park National
