The Man in Red Arrives at Cloyne Annual Christmas Fayre CUNNINGHAM

by LEAH RING and ANDREA

The Cloyne Christmas

Fayre was held on Sun- day, 11 December at the Cloyne Scout Hall. Cloyne District Com-

munity Council hosted the event which celebrat-

ed its fourth consecutive year running. Emily Peneau, Cloyne

District Community Council PRO said: “It was a great success, it was very well attended and there was a great

spirit

around for the day.” The

Christmas Fayre has been running since

the opening of the new local playground three years ago. Prior to the 2013 the

group held an annual Au- tumn Fayre for the Cloyne area in late October. This year’s fayre was

bigger and better than ever, with a variety of stalls ran by members of

the wider community. Mrs Peneau explained:

“We had a Community Cats Network stall, Cloyne Upcycled with Colman Ryan, Forever Living with Maria O’Brien, Inanna Reflexology stall, Lou- ise McGuinness had her Juice Plus+ stall and the Scouts had a stall. There

was a good variety, with crafts and home baking and two girls, Emily and Roisin, were selling jew- ellery and teddies. And a member of the commu- nity, Breda had a mulled wine stall, which was fan- tastic.” The

fayre had plen- ty for both children and

adults, with music, a raffle, stalls as well as games and

activities for kids running throughout the day. Santa also paid a visit

on the day, arriving in a vintage

convertible car

with the top down to greet all the local kids. Mrs Peneau said: “It is a way of giving back to the community and it is great to see the whole

community gather for one day.” To close

the events, the lights in the day’s

Christmas village

were switched on as the community sang carols around the tree. Cloyne District Com-

munity Council thanked all those who took part in the day’s events and the community for their in- volvement.
