Arianne Singers Concert for Cork DAWG Well-Supported by Midleton Community

by ALAN SHEEHAN and ANDREA

The

CUNNINGHAM Arianne

Singers,

supported by Voce Angel- ica Children’s Group, held a concert in St John the Baptist Church, Midleton,

last Thursday, 8 December, in aid of Cork Dog Animal Welfare Group (DAWG). The two groups, direct-

ed by the experienced and talented Anne Anderson, performed a programme of classical, contemporary and musical theatre pieces

at, with the proceeds raised going to Cork DAWG. “It went very well,” said

Mrs Anderson. “It was very well supported. We were very pleased with it. We haven’t got the full

total of the money raised yet

because there’s still all

money coming in for ticket s, and we haven’t

it counted and sorted yet. But we’re happy enough with the

money raised

for cork DAWG, and we should be more than okay.” Mrs Anderson’s two

musical groups, the sev- en-member

female Arianne Singers, and the

younger Voce Angelica Children’s Group, perform together regularly, and al- ways in aid of a chosen charity. This performance’s ben-

eficiary was Cork DAWG, a registered charity and is run primarily by a network of volunteers that

was

founded in 2007, is dedi- cated to

recuing abused,

staying, and abandoned dogs, and keeping them in their

sanctuary with

the aim to relocate them to loving homes, rather than city or county pounds where they would join the 10,000+ dogs that are de- stroyed in Ireland each year. A representative of the
