Ardmore Christmas Day Swim – Twenty Years A Growing!

The countdown really

has begun with under two weeks to go! Nothing beats the excitement of seeing what Santa brought and then cooling down with a Christmas swim! The aim of the swim

each year is to raise some much needed funds for our local Lifeboat Stations. The R.N.L.I is a voluntary run charity that saves lives at sea every day of the year, no matter what

the

conditions may be. They are

independent of the

Government and strongly need our support and we are very proud that we are in our twentieth year of supporting this wonderful charity. Each year we

have great supporters, many

of whom gather sponsor- ship before the swim and others who simply make a donation, whether they take part or not. We also have supporters who come along and spur on the rest of us while we are making a dash to splash! Every lit-

tle helps. At the moment, we

have a great competition running on our Facebook page – Ardmore Christ- mas Day Swim, be sure to check it out! Information is also available on there as to how you can obtain your sponsorship card. The swim will take place at 12:15p.m on Ardmore Beach with some nice hot refreshments afterwards. We are always grateful

as ever to the continuous support we receive.

15 Extra Shows Added to this year’s Cork Opera House Christmas Panto

Following the unprec-

edented success of last year’s Panto at Cork Op- era House, when a huge majority of performances totally sold out, this year sees an extra 15 shows added to the run of Cin- derella. This year’s Panto, which kicks off on the 1 December and stretches into the new year until the 22 January, already has a number of shows sold out. Thanks again to the at

super people New

Ireland Assurance Cork Opera House can pro- duce the quality of Panto that people have become accustomed to seeing on our stage.

This year’s

Cork Opera House and New Ireland Assurance Christmas Panto - the ‘Greatest Panto of them all’, Cinderella – will be bigger and better than ever before with magnif- icent

scenery and cos-

tumes, spectacular song and dance routines, live music, comedy capers and magical special ef- fects.

CEO Eibhlín Gleeson

is as excited as anyone to see this production being created in Cork: ‘Last

year’s panto made history for Cork

Opera House, being the most successful yet so we’ve set ourselves a challenge that I know we can meet

- we promise

to make this year’s show bigger, sparklier and fun- nier than ever before! We know Cinderella will be really special, so we’ve added extra shows which will allow us to welcome even more

audience

members into our Panto family.” Panto Director, Trevor

Ryan, is delighted to be able

to give the chance

to even more families to enjoy the special magic of the Christmas Panto this year; ‘‘Cinderella is a timeless fairy tale and the greatest panto of

them

all. Last year many fami- lies were left disappointed because the show was a sell-out. We’re lucky this year that we have the ca- pacity to extend the run of the show to cater for the unprecedented de- mand for tickets.” This year we’re

de-

lighted to welcome the West End actress, Cork born Molly Lynch to play the title role of Cinderel- la. As well as co-writing the script

with Trevor

Ryan, Frank Mackey re- turns to the stage as the

absolutely fabulous Fairy Wanda. We’re also de- lighted to be bringing back some familiar faces, including Michael Gren- nell and the hugely popu- lar (and very handsome!) star of last year’s Beauty and the Beast - Barna- by Hughes aptly playing Prince Charming. Joining them all on stage is a cast of fabulous professional dancers, musicians and the finest young talent drawn from Cork’s stage schools. Cinderella is an en-

chanting, rags to riches fairy tale with a dash of magic and adventure. With the ugliest step-sis- ters, the most sparkling glass slipper and of course, the most hand- somest prince in all the land, this year’s Panto is guaranteed to entertain and enchant all the fam- ily! Continue your family panto tradition or start a new one, you do not want to miss this magical ad- venture. Cinderella is being pre-

sented with the support of New Ireland Assur- ance, our proud media partners, Cork’s number 1 station, RedFM and our accommodation partner Hotel Isaacs.
