ETC’s German-based dealer Rogge & Derks has supplied 24 Selador Desire D40 Lustr+ XT fixtures to the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden for the opera Ariadne auf Naxos. Back in autumn 2011, when the Festspielhaus held a shootout with HID fixtures with coloured gel, the ETC Selador Lustr+ was unanimously declared the best. The lighting manager at the Festspiel- haus commented: “The quality of light and colour was indistinguishable between HID and LED, but it was the ease with which we could produce fine adjustments to the colours that really attracted us to Selador. “Desire’s seven-colour LED system means that the unnatural skin tones we might otherwise get from LED is not an issue. And we were really limited in terms of space on set, so the compact design of the Lustr+ makes it ideal - especially as we can replace each 2kW Fresnel with a much smaller Selador.” The colour mixing has also proved to be a time saving factor. “You can have colours as accurate as the colour picker, but without the programming difficulties,” said the engineer from Baden-Baden. Director, Set Designer and Lighting Designer Philippe Arlaud was equally enthusiastic: “We used colours from dark blue to lemon yellow, often switching between subtle shades of hot and cold. Desire managed this seamlessly.” Rogge & Derks Director Oliver Rogge commented: “ETC’s Selador Desire Lustr+ XT provides impres- sive flexibility. Whether indoor or outdoor use, spot or wash, white light using halogen or daylight - it even has built in colour capabilities without the need for gel or scrollers. With Selador Desire we have everything in one unit, and it can even be used outdoors. This makes it the ideal tool for theatre, live events and corporate.” The ETC Selador Desire comes in a range of different PAR-shaped chassis. The bright D40 with 40 LED emitters, the super-bright D60 with 60 emitters and the D40XT that is rated for exterior use. The fixtures each feature Selador’s award winning x7 Color System, which uses balanced blends of up to seven different shades of LED emitters to provide the widest colour gamut possible from LED fixtures. And each chassis offers seven different colour arrays including Vivid for bold, statement-making colour mixing, Lustr+ for adjustable white and tinted light, Fire for saturated warm spectrum colours, Ice for stunning cool spectrum colours and Studio HD, Studio Tungsten and Studio Daylight for installations that require the purest white light.
