QSC announced the next generation of Q-Sys products, designed specifically to deliver powerful digital networked audio solutions for the widest range of applica- tions, the Core 500i and Core 250i. Red Lighting made its debut at the show, a new Italian brand specialising in the development and production of professional lighting fixtures for the entertainment industry, founded by Gherardo Flaccomio Nardi Dei and Franco Natali. Prolight + Sound marked the beginning of a challenge for the company, which promises to be exciting. Renkus-Heinz presented the ICR-II Series, with the IC16-R-II model taking centre stage on the Atlantic Audio booth. The high power IC2 (IC Squared) digitally beam steered loudspeaker system and the new CF101LA modular point source array system were also on display. Robe launched five innovative new LED based products into the Robin family - the Robin DLX, Robin DLF, Robin 100 LEDBeam, Robin 800 LED Wash and Robin Actor 6. The emphasis was on smaller, brighter, lighter and the utilisation of more energy efficient technologies - underlining Robe’s ‘Think of the Future - consider Nature’ initiative. Robert Juliat previewed two exciting new profile ranges, in readiness for their launch later in the year. On the stand was the Lancelot 4000W HTI stadium effects projector, the highly successful 1800W MSR Victor followspot and, just to show that LED has not completely replaced tungsten, the Cink 325LF 2000W tungsten Fresnel which adds the ‘traditional touch’ to any lighting design. Roland Systems Group released a new firmware update (V1.5) for its popular M- 480 V-Mixer console. This firmware update comes only six months after a previous firmware release demonstrating a continued commitment to supporting users of V-Mixer Consoles. The group also released the Roland REAC Driver Kit for the V-Mixing System. Sennheiser presented the new XS Wireless entry-level series, which celebrated its European debut in Frankfurt, supplemented by new accessories. A particular highlight was the new KK 204 and KK 205 capsule heads from Georg Neumann GmbH, which are now bringing the legendary Neumann sound to the 2000 wire- less series. SGM launched no fewer than 19 LED-based products within their surreal, minimal- ist White Room, which was constantly buzzing with activity. Running in parallel were back-to-back distributor meetings designed to redraw their global distribution landscape. After four gruelling days of constant stand activity, Peter Johansen, Managing Director of the newly independent SGM A/S, declared: “Looking at the

sales figures, Prolight+Sound has more than doubled our wildest expectations.” The ShowTex team was on hand to welcome visitors and answer questions about the company’s latest developments. New products that were presented included the modular acoustic baffle made from 100% recycled flame retardant fabrics and the budget friendly TMC 1000 track motor. Sony launched the updated DWX-Series digital wireless microphone system. Sony’s landmark technology places it at the heart of the audio production market, driving forward the progression into digital sound. Soundcraft announced an extension of its range of digital audio transport option cards for its Vi, Si Compact and Si1/2/3 series digital consoles with all options expected to start shipping this year, as well as a major upgrade to the Si Compact console’s software. Studer showcased the 22-fader option of its popular Vista 5 M2 range of digital consoles. While also designed for broadcast applications, this low-cost Vista console option offers a unique feature set that is ideal for theatre environments. Sylvania showcased its range of Photo Optic lamps for the professional Stage&Studio lighting market. Products on display included the full BriteArc range of Photo Optic Discharge Lamps, as well as the PAR56 LED designed for under- water applications. One of the highlights of the Photo Optic range is the Sylvania BriteArc ‘BriteFit’ range, all fitted with a bayonet system for fast and easy replace- ment. Symetrix unveiled SymNet Edge, a significant update to its long line of DSP solu- tions packed with incredible new features. Edge is scalable hardware configured with SymNet Composer open architecture software for total design synergy. Syme- trix designed Edge to meet the I/O capacity requirements of the bulk of commercial sound installations. Pro-audio partners Tannoy, Lab.gruppen and Lake exhibited together. The three brands brought their industry leading product lines for touring and installation ap- plications, including the first ever appearance of the latest evolution of Lake’s LM Series of digital audio system processors, LM 44, along with a sneak preview of the brand new developments with Lake Controller software. Also on show was Tannoy’s brand new VLS Series passive column array and Lab.gruppen’s PLM Series. Vari-Lite introduced the new VL3015, VL3015LT, and VL3515 Spot luminaires to provide lighting professionals worldwide with the increased output of a 1,500W lamp in the successful line of Vari-Lite spot luminaires. “With the release of our 1,500W VL3500 Wash luminaire, we began to hear from designers and dealers requesting a similar 1,500W platform in our range of spot luminaires,” said Bob
