in Palme Vietnam, NAMM and The GET Show that offer a number of innovative design features. As well as having an IP65 rating for outdoor usage, the screens come in modular cubes allowing the easy replacement of faulty cubes. The individual strips of LEDs that make up the cubes can also be replaced, a process enabled due to the strips being magnetically attached to the cubes making the whole process incredibly simple. This inspired bit of thinking came from an R&D engineer with a military background who understood the importance of quick maintenance in a battlefield environment. Bill is targeting the retail, commercial and entertainment markets with his new product range, and is investing heavily in the project. A whole manufacturing unit has been set up purely for LED screen production and the aim is to have the LED screen side of SAE able to account for 50% of sales within a few years.
The visit to SAE gave a real insight into a Chinese company that doesn’t have the ‘sell sell sell, buy buy buy’ ethos but one of a more considered and as previously said, aesthetic approach to doing business. From entering the offices you are im- mediately struck by the thinking of Bill Lee. It’s designed to resemble a boutique hotel and the foyer includes a gallery of products from the early days of SAE and gifts from clients and friends alike. Upstairs, the meeting rooms resemble an Italian architectural lighting companies offices, whilst product displays and demonstration rooms exude quality. Bill is setting out to create an inno- vative and reliable product range whilst establish- ing a sophisticated and strong brand image. SAE will be exhibiting at the forthcoming Palm Beijing exhibition and Bill promises there will be new products and of course a good looking booth.
