Sightseeing in the colonial heart of the fabled “City of Kings” visiting the magnifi cent grandeur of the Plaza de Armas and the ornate church of San Francisco. Afternoon at leisure.
DAY 3 – Arequipa Visit the Museum Larco before departing Lima for Arequipa, set in a beautiful valley before the magnifi cent backdrop of a trio of imposing volcanoes. 2 nights at the Libertador.
DAY 4 – Arequipa Morning tour of Peru’s ‘White City’ taking in its grace and charm and visiting the remarkable Santa Catalina Convent. Afternoon at leisure.
DAY 5 – Colca Canyon Depart Arequipa for the drive to the remote Colca Canyon. Pass a landscape peppered with unspoilt Collagua villages and pre-Columbian terraces with llamas and alpacas. Overnight at the Casa Andina in Chivay.
DAY 6 – Lake Titicaca Visit the Canyon and its tableau of plunging gorges and watch the majestic condors circling above before driving east for 2 nights at the Libertador Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca.
DAY 7 – Lake Titicaca A full day’s exploration of the lake, including the fl oating Uros Islands and the Quechua community of Llachon.

DAY 8 – Cusco Scenic ‘Andean Explorer’ train journey across the high altiplano stopping at La Raya to see the local vendors. 2 nights at the Libertador Cusco.
SOUTHERN PERU
From Peru’s capital, Lima and its clashing contradictions of cultures to colonial Arequipa and its extraordinary Santa Catalina Convent, the Andes are the majestic thread that runs through Southern Peru.
LIMA Peru’s fabulous City of Kings and, reputedly, the ‘Gastronomic Capital of the Americas’, Lima is home to the colonial charms of the Plaza de Armas, a UNESCO World Heritage site whose palaces, churches and museums have earned it the accolade of being one of Latin America’s most captivating central squares.
AREQUIPA Built from white volcanic rock and set amongst the towering snow-capped Andes, Arequipa’s historic centre contains some of the fi nest colonial architecture in Peru. This elegant fusion of European and native design includes its beautiful 17th century cathedral and the unmissable Santa Catalina Convent.
LAKE TITICACA The world’s highest navigable lake, Lake Titicaca occupies the high altiplano straddling southern Peru and Bolivia. Steeped in ancient tradition and covering over 8,000 sq km, the immense lake and its islands have been home to the Aymara and Quechua for centuries, its deep waters.
DAY 9 – Cusco Explore valley life, past and present, from the Inca ruins of Ollantaytambo to the towns of Urubamba and Chinchero.
DAY 10 – Machu Picchu Travel by Vistadome train from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu and tour the fabled mountain top ruins. Overnight at the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Hotel.
DAY 11 – Cusco Relax, revisit the site on your own or explore the gardens before boarding the Vistadome train back to Cusco. 2 nights at the Libertador Cusco.
DAY 12 – Sacred Valley of the Incas Morning tour of Cusco with its cathedral, the Convent of Santo Domingo and the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman. Afternoon at leisure.
DAYS 13/14 – Fly to the UK Fly to Lima to connect with your overnight Iberia/LAN fl ight back to the UK.
