DAYS 1/2 – Fly to Istanbul Depart London Heathrow with Turkish Airlines to Istanbul. Full day tour of Istanbul, visit the Hippodrome, Topkapi Palace, St Sophia and Blue Mosque.
DAY 3 – Gallipoli Full day visit of Gallipoli, continue to Canakkale. Ephesus Whirling Dervishes
DAY 4 – Troy/Pergamum Today visit the dramatic site of Troy before travelling to Pergamum to see the Acropolis. Overnight in Izmir.
DAY 5 to 7 – Sardes/Pamukkale/Ephesus Explore the temple of Sardes enroute to Pamukkale, here visit the ancient city of Hierapolis. Bath in the travertines at Pamukkale. Visit the ancient sites of Aphrodisias and Ephesus, once one of the largest classical cities.
DAYS 8/9 – Cappadocia Fly to Cappadocia. Explore this beautiful region of Turkey with visits to Urgup, Zelve Valley and Goreme open air museum.
DAYS 10/11 – Konya Visit the underground city of Kaymakli and Konya to see Whirling Dervishes.
DAYS 12 to 14 – Antalya & Return to the UK Explore Aspendos theatre, Perge and take a city tour of Antalya. Next day, fl y to Istanbul and connect onto your Turkish Airlines fl ight to Heathrow.

ESKI GUMUS MONASTERY, ADANA Lying at the southern extremes of Cappadocia’s Christian enclaves, the well-preserved rock-cut monastery of Eski Gumus dates back to the 10th Century. Escaping much of the destruction wreaked on many of the region’s other churches, the monastery today houses some of the fi nest examples of Byzantine art in the region.
DIYARBAKIR
The second largest city in south-eastern Anatolia, Diyarbakir is the heartland of Turkey’s Kurdish people. Famed for its huge black basalt walls, the city can also boast a number of historic medieval mosques and madrasahs, as well as an ancient hilltop fortress that overlooks the River Tigris.
DAYS 1 to 3 – To Istanbul 2 full days to explore the treasures of one of the world’s most historic cities with its majestic setting above the Bosphorus. Enjoy, among other sights, magnifi cent Aghia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace.
DAYS 4/5 – Trabzon and Erzurum Fly to Trabzon on the Black Sea, for the cliff-side Sumela Monastery, then traverse the Pontic Alps to Erzurum.

HEADS OF KING ANTIOCHUS, MOUNT NEMRUT A UNESCO World Heritage site, the summit of Mount Nemrut is strewn with the scattered remains of giant statues and heads that date back to the reign of King Antiochus of Commagene in the 1st Century BC. These colossal heads are believed to guard the hidden tomb of the old king himself.
DAYS 6/7 – Kars Visit the haunting and atmospheric ruins of Ani near the Armenian border.
DAYS 8 to 10 – Dogubeyazit and Lake Van
Drive past iconic Mount Ararat to Dogubeyazit. Continue to immense Lake Van, a veritable inland sea, and it’s surrounding treasures. Visit Old Van, Hosap Castle & Akdamar Island.
DAYS 11 to 13 – Van – Diyabakir, Sanliurfa and Kahta Drive south to the ancient walled city of Diyarbakir and Sanliurfa (formerly Edessa), regarded as the home of Abraham. On to the Euphrates valley.
DAYS 14/15 – Kahta and Malatya & Return to the UK Ascend to the amazing mountain top burial site of Antiochus on Mount Nemrut [7052ft] to see the famous monumental stone heads. The next day, return via Istanbul to London.
