DAYS 1/2 – Fly to Johannesburg Depart London Heathrow fl ying on Virgin Atlantic to Johannesburg. Arrive the following morning where you are at leisure. Stay at the Protea Hotel Wanderers (or similar).
DAY 3 – Pretoria / Mpumalanga Depart for Pretoria, South Africa’s capital city. Continue to Mpumalanga, travelling through the lush subtropical region and passing over Long Tom Pass onto the small town of Sabie. Afternoon boat cruise along the Blyde River Canyon, one of the natural wonders of Africa. Overnight at the Misty Mountain (or similar).
DAYS 4/5 – Kruger National Park Visit God’s Window en-route to Hazyview a town just outside Kruger National Park. Early morning game drive in Kruger National Park in search of lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. Stay 2 nights at Perry’s Bridge Hollow (or similar).
DAY 6 – Swaziland
Drive to the tiny Kingdom of Swaziland, a mountainous land also bordered by Mozambique. Witness a Swazi cultural experience before continuing through the capital city, Mbabane, known for its vibrant markets packed with woven baskets, beadwork and carvings. Overnight at Ezulwini Valley staying at Lugogo Sun Hotel (or similar).
DAY 7 – Zululand Travel onto Zululand, passing traditional round huts and endless vistas. Overnight at the Protea Hotel Umfolozi (or similar).
THE BATTLEFIELDS This is the area where over a century ago Boers, the British and the Zulus fought a series of battles that were the bloodiest in South Africa’s history. Two of the most famous were at Isandlwana and the nearby mission of Rorke’s Drift, the latter immortalised in the Michael Caine fi lm ‘Zulu’.
THE DRAKENSBERG MOUNTAINS A World Heritage Site, the Drakensberg Mountains are one of the continent’s most magnifi cent settings. Filled with challenging peaks, San rock art and awesome vistas, the mountains offer activities from hiking, fi shing, horse riding and a day trip through Sani Pass, the winding trail up into Lesotho.

DAY 8 – Durban Morning cruise on Lake St Lucia before departing for Durban. Hug the KwaZulu-Natal coastline en route to Durban. Afternoon at leisure by the waters of the Indian Ocean, Overnight at Protea Hotel Edward (or similar).
DAY 9 – Tsitsikamma Forest / Knysna Morning at leisure. Fly to Port Elizabeth where upon arrival you will be taken through the glorious, indigenous Tsitsikamma Forest, before reaching Knysna, perhaps South Africa’s most visually stunning location, in the heart of the famous Garden Route. Stay 2 nights at Knysna Hollow Hotel (or similar).
DAY 10 – Knysna
Cruise the vast Knysna Lagoon and visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Afternoon at leisure.
DAY 11 – Oudtshoorn
Drive the spectacular Outeniqua pass en route to Oudtshoorn, famed for its ostriches. Visit a local ostrich farm before we head underground for a fascinating tour of the Cango Caves. Overnight at Queens Hotel (or similar).
DAY 12 – Cape Town Continue to Cape Town along route 62. During whale season time will be spent in Hermanus in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the southern right whales. Arrive in Cape Town for 3 nights at Protea Hotel President (or similar).
DAY 13 – Cape Town
Full-day tour of the Cape Peninsula, visiting Hout Bay, Cape Point Nature Reserve and Simon’s Town before stopping off to see the lovable penguins at Boulders Beach.
DAY 14 – Winelands Journey into the Cape Winelands, visiting both Paarl and Stellenbosch before stopping for wine tasting at two well-known estates. Return to Cape Town.
SWAZILAND
The tiny landlocked kingdom of Swaziland is one of the world’s last absolute monarchies. Surrounded by South Africa on three sides, Swaziland enjoys a reputation for its landscapes and its reserves, with the Hlane Royal National Park and the Ezulwini and Malkerns Valleys offering up an unbeatable mix of wildlife, picturesque scenery and traditional handicraft.
DAYS 15/16 – Fly to the UK Depart Cape Town today with Virgin Atlantic arriving the following day at Heathrow.
