DAY 1 – Fly to Muscat Overnight fl ight on Oman Air to Muscat.

DAY 2 – Muscat Arrive in Oman this morning, stay at the InterContinental Muscat for 2 nights. This afternoon meet your guide and discover Bait Al Zubair Museum, Muscat’s Old Town, and the famous Muttrah Souq, an Old World souq with charm and choice. Continuing onto Muttrah’s elegant waterfront and Muscat’s Old Town, you will take a walking tour past the Royal Palace and the dominating bastions of the 16th century Portuguese forts of Jabali and Mirani.


DAY 3 – Muscat This morning a guided journey takes in the magnifi cent opulence of the Grand Mosque. After lunch travel to the citadel at Nakhl, dating back 350 years this beautifully restored fort is one of the most magnifi cent in the country.


DAY 4 – Sur


Drive along the eastern coast today, towards the dhow shipyards of Sur, stopping for a picnic lunch amidst the picturesque setting of Wadi Shab. Overnight at the Sur Plaza Hotel. Evening visit to Ras al-Hadd to see turtles come ashore.


SALALAH & THE SOUTH Beyond the Qara Mountains lies a very different Oman, a fertile sub-tropical region that nestles along the shores of the Arabian Sea. Traditional home to the legendary Queen of Sheba and source of the aromatic frankincense tree, it is a fascinating area to explore.


WAHIBA SANDS


A spectacular landscape of ever-changing colours and contours, Wahiba Sands has been home to Bedu tribesmen for generations. Covering some 10,000 square kilometres, this expansive sand sea presents a spectacular wilderness to explore, and one that is remarkably blessed with a dazzling array of bird and animal life, including some 115 species of birds, wild foxes and the rare Arabian sand gazelle.


DAY 5 – Nizwa After a morning’s visit to the clear green natural spring water pools of the mountain oasis of Wadi Bani Khaled, continue into the endless shifting dunes of Wahiba Sands, a spectacular landscape of ever changing colours and contours that has been home to Bedu tribesmen for generations. Travel to Nizwa , regarded by many as Oman’s cultural capital, stay at the Falaj Daris Hotel for 2 nights.


DAY 6 – Nizwa


A full day exploring some of the highlights of the area includes the impressive fort at Bahla and also that at Jabrin. Jabrin Fort is fi lled with passageways and chambers, where most of the ceilings are decorated with beautiful Islamic motifs, including the breathtaking ‘Sun and Moon’ room. Continue into the mountain vistas of Jabal Shams, site of a spectacular 1,000 metre canyon, take an exhilarating walk through this stunning landscape.


DAY 7 – Muscat Morning visit to Nizwa’s souks and Friday goat market plus the impressive 17th century fortress before heading back to Muscat for 2 nights at Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa.


DAY 8 – Muscat Free to relax and enjoy the resort’s facilities.


DAY 9 – Fly to the UK Oman Air fl ight to Heathrow.
