Varanasi


Arrive in the Indian capital for 2 nights at the Oberoi Maidens Hotel. Afternoon tour of Old Delhi by rickshaw taking in the Red fort, Jama Masjid and bustling Chandni Chowk.


Chittorgarh Fort Ranakpur Temples DAY 3 – Delhi


Sightseeing tour of New Delhi visiting Qutab Minar, Humayun’s Tomb and the India Gate. Optional afternoon walking tour of Haus Khas.


DAY 4 – Varanasi Fly to Varanasi for an overnight at the Gateway Hotel. Optional visit to Sarnath. Evening aarti ceremony on the bank of the River Ganges.


DAY 5 – Khajuraho


Dawn boat ride on the Holy Ganges. Fly to Khajuraho to visit the historic temples noted for their masterful carvings and erotic imagery. Spend 1 night at the Hotel Chandela.


DAY 6 – Agra Travel by road and rail to Agra for 2 nights at the Gateway Hotel. En route stop at Orcha to explore the spectacular Fort Palace which includes the Jehangir Mahal and the fabulous religious murals of the Raj Mahal.


DAY 7 – Agra Visit 3 of India’s most iconic buildings, Itmad-ud-Daulah “Baby Taj”, Agra Fort and the marble magnifi cence of the Taj Mahal. Optional heritage walk to enjoy a sunset over the Taj from the opposite side of the Yamuna River.


BODHGAYA


Bodhgaya is notable as the world’s most important Buddhist pilgrimage site and as the place where Buddha is said to have reached enlightenment. Located in Bihar state, it is a draw for pilgrims from all corners of the world who come in search of enlightenment and meditation.


ALLAHABAD The confl uence of both the Ganges and the Yumana at Allahabad is a mystical setting. It is said that the river here has soul cleansing properties and all pious Hindus seek to bathe here at least once in their life. Interesting cafes and an impressive fort, best seen from a river boat, add to its charm.

DAY 8 – Jaipur Travel via Fatehpur Sikri and Abhaneri stepwell to Jaipur for 2 nights at the Jai Mahal Palace. Festival departures (Mar & Nov) have an extra day to see the Holi and Diwali celebrations.


DAY 9 – Jaipur Explore the “Pink City” including the Hawa Mahal, the Maharaja’s Palace and the Amber Fort. Optional evening heritage walk.


DAY 10 – Deogarh


Head into rural Rajasthan for a night at the historic Deogarh Mahal, a 17th century converted palace set high in the Aravalli mountains.


DAY 11 – Udaipur Travel via the Jain temple of Ranakpur, the largest of its kind in India and marvel at its matchless marble elegance. 2 nights at the Trident Hotel.


DAY 12 – Udaipur Explore the Venice of The East including the City Palace. Afternoon at leisure with the option for a cruise on Lake Pichola to take in the palaces, gardens and temples that are amongst the fi nest in all India.


DAY 13 – Fly to the UK Connect with an international Virgin Atlantic fl ight from Delhi to Heathrow.
