76 University of Bath Foundation Degrees What are Foundation Degrees?

Foundation Degrees are Level 5, intermediate Higher Education qualifications, equivalent to Higher National Diplomas (HNDs), Diplomas of Higher Education or the first two years of a full-time Honours Degree.

Offered on a full-time (2 year) or part-time (3-4 years) basis, they integrate both academic and work-based learning and are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge for employment.

The University of Bath’s Foundation Degrees have been developed in a collaborative partnership with other higher education institutions, further education colleges, professional bodies and employers. The majority of our Foundation Degrees are taught off campus at partner institutions.

Why study for a Foundation Degree? Our Foundation Degrees and Honours Years give students the opportunity to gain a University of Bath award through study at partner institutions.

Our Foundation Degrees are inclusive and flexible: admission is based on the UCAS points system and your work experience. You may have the opportunity to study part-time. As a student of both the University and your partner institution, you will have the added advantage of access to facilities at both institutions, including the University’s Library and Learning Centre and an extensive range of sports and recreation facilities.
