www.bath.bba.com BSc Business Administration (BBA) programme Year 1 Year 2 Action or Research Project – Part 2 Year 3
Before your second placement, you take four units from a selection. These include more advanced studies in existing subjects and/or new subjects.
Year 4
Choose eight units across both semesters from a diverse range of subject areas. Final Year Project.
Option to spend Semester 1 of Year 4 on Academic Exchange (subject to successful application).
Placements and international exchange
The BSc in Business Administration at Bath is distinct from many others in the field, offering two six-month placements in different organisations rather than a whole year in one company. These are real jobs, usually paid, forming an integrated part of the degree and they provide a distinct advantage in the graduate job market. We have a dedicated Placements Team who liaise with employers, arrange interviews and can help you prepare for the application and selection process. You will also have the opportunity to study abroad at one of our international partner business schools for the first semester of your final year.
Career opportunities
Each year, a high proportion of students return from placement holding a graduate job offer and around one-fifth return to their placement companies upon graduation. The class of 2009 took employment with a wide range of companies including:
Accenture, Andersen, AT&T, BAA plc, Bain & Co, Barclays Bank, BP, British Airways, British Energy, British Steel, British Sugar, British Telecom, Cazenove, Citibank, Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, Ernst & Young, Ford Motor Company, Gartner Group, General Electric, GlaxoSmithKline, HSBC, ICL, JP Morgan, KPMG, Lloyds TSB, Marks & Spencer, Mars, Morgan Stanley, Motorola, Nestlé, Novell, PA Consulting, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Procter & Gamble, Rover Ltd, Saatchi & Saatchi, Seagram, Siemens, Sony, TeachFirst, Total Gas Marketing, Unilever Group, WH Smith.
two 6-month placements rather than a year. This will give me the opportunity to gain different experiences, as well as some variety in my studies. The breadth of the course also interested me, giving a broader knowledge of business in the first year, with the chance to specialise in areas such as Marketing in the following years.
‘‘
I got my work placement through the Placements Office, who supported me through the whole process. I am currently working for Zurich in the Proposition Communications department. I have a very supportive manager who has encouraged me to spend time in other areas of the business, so I’ve had a very good insight into Zurich as a whole. I think that this placement at Zurich, along with my second placement in third year, will help me to develop and decide on my future career path.
