Placements We run more placements than any other life science department in the UK.


Our placement opportunities include top UK pharmaceutical companies (eg GlaxoSmithKline), UK research institutes (eg National Institute for Medical Research) and American universities (including labs at Harvard and other Ivy League universities).


Typically, two thirds of our undergraduates undertake placements. These are 12 month periods of employment giving students the chance to broaden their experience and transferrable skills.

Biochemistry A levels: Grade A in Chemistry plus a minimum of BB in two further subjects, at least one of which must be another science or maths based subject, OR Grade B in Chemistry plus a minimum of AA in two further subjects, at least one of which must be another science or maths based subject.


International Baccalaureate: 34 points in to include at least 6 in HL Chemistry and at least 6 in one other science or Maths at HL.


Molecular & Cellular Biology A levels: ABB


To include Biology and Chemistry.


I knew I wanted to study Biology but did not know which specific areas I liked most. I was attracted to the University of Bath as I was taught a broad range of topics at the start, from wider ecosystems, all the way down to the molecular level, with the opportunity to specialise later.
