Programme details


This programme provides modular education and training for general dental practitioners, enabling them to develop the core knowledge, skills and clinical competencies needed to practice implant dentistry to a high standard, efficiently and safely. In addition, it will enable skilled professionals to provide safe and effective treatment for a diverse range of patients, recognising and managing their individual needs in this field of dentistry.


Module titles


Year 1: • Management and Treatment of Tooth Loss (30 credits)


• Surgical Implant Treatment I (30 credits)


Year 2: • Restorative Implant Treatment (30 credits)


• Surgical Implant Treatment II (30 credits)


Year 3: • Dissertation (60 credits)


Suitable for


Experienced dental practitioners who hold a GDC registered dental degree, with existing experience and/or skills in oral surgery and/or restorative dentistry. Evidence of completion of basic training in dental implantology and at least two years of post-qualification experience in hospital service or general dental practice is also required.


Career potential


This programme will enable dental practitioners to develop core knowledge, skills and clinical competencies to practice implant dentistry.


Gastroenterology


MSc (four to five years part-time) PgDip (two years part-time) PgCert (one year part-time)

Delivered by a team of dynamic and supportive staff committed to helping you move professional practice forward, this programme is aimed at specialist registrars (SPRs) within the field of gastroenterology. We provide a structured and co-ordinated pathway for SPRs to progress with academic credit given to both theory and work-based experience. It aims to ensure that the theory underpinning knowledge is delivered alongside and applied to the clinical situation, meeting the needs of clients and clinicians, which is essential for the delivery of a quality service.

Produced in collaboration with the North Western Postgraduate Medical Deanery, this programme provides a structured and co-ordinated pathway for specialist registrars to progress in the field of gastroenterology over a five year period of higher medical training.
