English language requirements Our programmes are taught in English and so if this is not your first language we will require you to demonstrate your proficiency in English before we can offer you a place. We currently require a minimum average score of 6.0 or above (with each element scoring 5.0 or above) in the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS), however some programmes will require you to have a higher score. We also accept the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and other tests.

At Salford we are committed to providing the best support we can to all of our students, which is why we provide a number of ways to improve your English either before you start your programme or while you are studying. The Summer English Study Programme (SESP) is an intensive programme which runs between June and September – depending on your level of English you can study for five, eight, ten or 15 weeks. SESP also includes organised trips and social events to make the most of your free time and to help you settle into a new culture and language.
