Postgraduate life Minutes away from
Manchester The vibrant and cosmopolitan centre of Manchester – one of the UK’s largest cities – sits on Salford’s doorstep.
Most of Manchester’s museums and galleries are free, including the award-winning Manchester Art Gallery and the Museum of Science and Industry. As well as numerous theatres, cinemas and comedy clubs, there are lots of music venues, world-class classical performances, and a thriving club scene.
Manchester is the shopping capital of the North West. You can fi nd stores from high street chains to Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and the eclectic Affl ecks emporium in the Northern Quarter. Then there’s the Trafford Centre – Europe’s largest shopping mall, just a bus ride away.
If you’re a sports fan there are some great sporting venues. We’re the closest university to Manchester United Football Club and Old Trafford cricket ground. East Manchester’s Sportscity was built in 2002 for the Commonwealth Games and is home to Manchester City Football Club.
