Module titles


You will learn how to take reliable measurements of environmental noise, how to apply acoustic theory and knowledge of standard practice to work out what, where and how to measure.


There are unique features of this programme including the Environmental Noise Measurement module which includes practical hands-on training in the use of a sound level meter, which is assessed by an observed practical test, by practising acoustics consultants.


The majority of the teaching and learning takes place through tutorial and seminar groups. Assessment is generally in the form of assignments.

Programme details


This programme is designed to provide a flexible but rigorous period of study for graduates working in, or intending to work in, the natural gas/oil industry.


A comprehensive range of subjects is studied covering the whole spectrum of natural gas engineering, providing a sound base from which to select an area of specialised study.


You may also be eligible for membership of the Gas & Management Institute and subsequently become a Chartered Engineer, or continue your studies to PhD level, researching gas engineering or other related subjects.
