Programme details


The programme has been created to address concerns from industry that there is insufficient or suitably qualified engineers capable of designing, commissioning, servicing and maintaining industrial and commercial combustion equipment (oil and gas).


To attain the competent engineer certification you need to complete the PgDip.


If you choose to study the MSc you must undertake a supervised dissertation; this can be in the form of either experimental or theoretically-based research, on any aspect of industrial and commercial oil or gas combustion engineering.


Assessment is by a combination of examinations, coursework and laboratory work. Due to the practical nature of


engineering there is a two-week residential at the University of Salford, during which time the laboratory work will be undertaken.

The programme is also suitable for students after their first degree who want to specialise in industrial and commercial combustion engineering.
