TAKING A GREENVIEW OF ENERGY-EFFICIENT VIDEO Fraunhofer Digital Media BY KEVIN EMMOTT

Fraunhofer Fokus is introducing its Famium GreenView technology, which dynamically adjusts the presentation of streaming content on modern Smart TVs without altering the original content, in Hall 8.

Designed to make video streaming playback more energy-effi cient and sustainable, Famium GreenView provides a library that integrates with a streaming service’s application, along with a backend component providing optimal settings for

an individual streaming session. Leveraging context parameters such as content, device and display type, the AI model delivers individually tailored confi gurations to optimise streaming sessions for energy- effi cient playback. Currently available for Android- based Smart TVs through Exoplayer and HTML5-based app environments, including Samsung Tizen and HbbTV, Fraunhofer says Famium GreenView extends beyond a use for OTT and media library content by also offering energy savings for traditional linear broadcast TV. In lab tests, applying gradual
