HUDDLE UP FOR SHARING SESSIONS Avid

BY KEVIN EMMOTT

Providing the ability to link Avid Media Composer with collaboration apps, Avid Huddle aims to help post-production teams working in hybrid environments to accelerate client input and approval. The SaaS tool extends real-time collaboration for virtualised edit sessions, and enables editors using Media Composer Ultimate, Media Composer Enterprise and Avid Edit On Demand, to share media during a live Microsoft Teams meeting. Remote reviewers can collectively

view, discuss and comment in real time as if they were working in the same room.

Huddle allows producers, clients and other reviewers to give immediate feedback to editors by virtually adding time-stamped comments and annotations during a live session.

All participants can join sessions

through Microsoft Teams; only the host needs to have an Avid Huddle subscription. Avid says that editors can also use Avid Huddle to launch a Teams meeting without leaving Media Composer, ensuring content is secure and protected. 7.B59

MINI LENSES IN THEIR PRIME

The Mini Prime range is a good choice for harsh environments

Dulens/Shenyang ZhenRui Optics Co

BY KEVIN EMMOTT Avid Huddle aims to help teams embrace distributed working

The APO Mini Prime range features some of the smallest sizes and lowest weights among standard fi xed focus lenses, claims Dulens. The range is available with 31/43/58/85mm focal lengths. Weighing approximately 510g, every APO Mini Prime has a 72mm standard fi lter thread and an outer diameter of 80mm. They can be adapted with a self-adjusting balancing block, and the lens fi ts most matte boxes and fi lters. Boasting the exact same weight

and shape, they are easy to swap between lenses on set and dispense of the need to readjust balance after doing so.

Dulens claims that their price point makes APO Mini Primes an excellent alternative to more expensive lenses in harsh surroundings such as explosions or stunt-heavy scenes and they are easily paired with smaller camera bodies such as the Sony A7 series, Panasonic S1 series and Z Cam. Additional features include anti-chromatic aberration, an interchangeable PL/EF mount, an aperture range of T2.4 to T22 and an 11-blade iris system. 9.B03
